SIDN present at Zorg & ICT 2025
Making healthcare companies and organizations aware of the importance of online brand monitoring
Making healthcare companies and organizations aware of the importance of online brand monitoring
From 8 to 10 April, we had a stand at the annual healthtech trade fair Zorg & ICT, which took place at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. The event is the top opportunity for care professionals, IT specialists and tech partners to share knowledge about ICT and the care sector’s digital transformation. Our presence was intended to raise awareness amongst businesses and other organisations in the sector of the importance of online brand protection.
The 3-day fair is the biggest of its kind in the Netherlands, attracting more than 10,000 visitors a year. The central theme this year was ‘ICT as a solution for staff shortages’. Numerous sessions and presentations also tackled a variety of topical issues, such as data availability, artificial intelligence (AI), remote care and cybersecurity.
The background to our involvement at Zorg & ICT was the growing number of incidents involving domain names linked to care-sector organisations. Concern about the problem prompted us to team up with Z-CERT to perform an analysis of nearly 3,000 care-sector domain names. The results revealed various examples of malicious domain name use, which we highlighted at the trade fair.
SIDN’s stand was in the zone for organisations active in the field of cybersecurity. Visitors were able to check whether their domain names were potentially being used for malicious purposes – an opportunity that dozens of them took advantage of. We also received a lot of questions about domain name-related disputes and best practices. Many people visiting the stand mentioned the domain name security survey we carried out with Z-CERT.
Martijn Sanders, our product owner for SIDN BrandGuard, made a presentation on digital security and brand protection in the care sector. In it, he emphasised the importance of proactive domain name monitoring to prevent phishing and reputational damage. He also explained how SIDN BrandGuard can help organisations with the early detection of brand abuse. Another important point made by Sanders was that collaboration between care institutions and tech partners is vital if digital resilience is to be reinforced and the integrity of care sector data assured.
This was the first time that we’d been involved with a sector-specific event. Zorg & ICT 2025 proved to be a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing and innovation in the care sector. The next edition is scheduled for 14 to 16 April 2026.
