Version 4.1 of the PowerDNS Recursor came out at the turn of the year. That was more than twelve months after version 4.0, the first Recursor to support DNSSEC validation.
In the interim, the developers have been consulting major users and working on the performance and utility of the software. The new version is faster (in terms of both throughput and response times), more robust and more scalable. As a result, the makers say that PowerDNS Recursor is ready for use in large and demanding production environments.
In view of the big performance improvements for DNSSEC in particular, validating resolver operators are strongly advised to upgrade their systems to version 4.1.
