SIDN at Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Days
Helping entrepreneurs make a successful start online
Helping entrepreneurs make a successful start online
On 14 and 15 November, we were at the Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Days to help new businesses get started online. We helped people setting up new businesses to choose good names, and we answered domain name-related questions from existing entrepreneurs. Support from 4 .nl registrars – Compra, Yourhosting, TransIP and Superspace – meant that visitors to our stand also got assistance with websites, mail and hosting.
The CoC Enterprise Days are a 2-day event formed by the merger of the familiar Start-ups Day and Innovation Top 100. Held at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht, the event is intended to support entrepreneurs at every phase of their business development: starting up, expansion, innovation and even closing down. Visitors can pick up new ideas at inspiration sessions and get personal advice from partners including the Tax Service, ZZP Nederland and SIDN. Topics covered include intellectual property, digitisation, finance and business sustainability.
Because a business’s name is something more than its domain name, we teamed up with the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BoIP) and the Chamber of Commerce to deliver 2 inspiration sessions on the importance of having a recognisable domain name and protecting your brand. Visitors to our stand were given practical tips and personal advice as well.
At the stand, people could also take part in our phishing quiz, designed to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity. There was an additional creative dimension for those in the mood: word artist Sjaak Kroes brought originality and a light-hearted tone by composing poems on request about visiting entrepreneurs and their ambitions.
It’s become a tradition for us to have a presence at CoC events. Both we and the registrars who support us always find it really inspiring to chat to new and established entrepreneurs. So we’re looking forward to next year already!
