With keynotes by Ruben Verborgh and Jim Stoltze

Yes! Finally! We're allowed to meet face-to-face again at SIDN Inspire on Wednesday 25 May 2022. We've chosen a venue in the centre of the Netherlands: Media Plaza in Utrecht. The Plaza can accommodate up to two hundred guests. Can't make it to Utrecht, or feel it's a bit soon to attend a big event? No problem. You can also follow proceedings online.

SIDN Inspire was originally scheduled for December, as part of .nl's jubilee celebrations. Although we had to reschedule, we still plan to mark our national domain's the thirty-fifth 'birthday'. The anniversary is an excellent opportunity for reflection, but especially for looking ahead. Hence this year's theme: Future Internet.

Programme

A full afternoon of activities is planned, with two inspiring keynote speakers, a panel discussion and an opportunity for networking over a drink at the end. Here's a little preview of what you can expect...

Keynote presentation

We'll start the day with Ruben Verborgh, Professor of Decentralised Web Technology and a member of the team behind Solid, the initiative by Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. Ruben will be talking about decentralised data storage and data autonomy. We live in a data-driven society and economy. Decades of Big-Data thinking have created an environment where it's assumed that a business has to collect personal data in order to avoid being left behind in the data-focused technology race. During his presentation, Ruben will explain how we, the data subjects, can regain control of our data in such an environment.

Expert panel

We'll be exploring the future internet theme -- as well as the topics business, technology, cybersecurity and society -- with the help of a panel of experts, including Sander Duivestein, trend-watcher and author of 'Echt nep' ('Genuinely fake'), Inge Bryan, Managing Director of NCC Europe at Fox-IT, Cristian Hesselman, Director of SIDN Labs, and Lotte de Bruijn, Director of NLdigital.

Keynote presentation

We'll close the main proceedings with an inspiring keynote presentation by Jim Stolze. Jim will be talking about AI solutions and providing insight into how models are trained, what they're capable of and where the challenges lie. He'll also take you through the ethical dilemmas associated with AI and how we can protect ourselves against unsolicited and undesirable algorithmic interference in our lives.
