Notice-and-take-down request

We, SIDN BV, referred to below as SIDN, manage the .nl domain. You’re sending this request because you believe a domain name is clearly being used in a criminal or unlawful way.

We can only help with .nl-domain names

Is the content you’ve seen linked to a domain name with a different extension, e.g. .com, .net or .eu? If so, you need to contact the registry that manages that extension. Visit IANA’s website https://www. iana.org/domains/root/db to find out who the registry is.

Our NTD procedure

See our NTD procedure document for details. Before filling in this form, please note:

  • We only disable domain names as a last resort.

  • Computers temporarily save (or ‘cache’) internet content. So people may be able to go on using the domain name to view the content for days or even weeks. It’s therefore best to ask others to take down the content before approaching us.

  • There is the webpage https://www.sidn.nl/en/nl-domain-name/infringement-of-rights for complaining about a domain name and for taking action against people who infringe your rights.

Before asking us to act, you need to contact each of these people or organisations:

  • The person who put the content on the internet (the uploader or writer)

  • The website manager

  • The registrant of the domain name the content is linked to

  • The reseller (hosting service provider)

  • The registrar of that domain name (the hosting service provider)

  • If none of them will help, you can contact us, SIDN

Before acting on your request, we’ll consider whether you’ve done enough to get the content taken down by the people and organisations mentioned above. So, along with the form, you need to send us copies of the letters and/or e-mails you’ve sent and received about the content.

Use the Whois to get the relevant contact details:

To contact the registrant, use the e-mail address of the domain name’s administrative contact person. To contact the registrar (hosting service provider) use the abuse contact e-mail address often listed in the Whois, and/or visit the registrar’s website for contact information.

Be sure to contact at least the registrant and the registrar. Attach copies of the e-mails you’ve sent and received about the problem.
