Migration to the public cloud: communications overview
An overview of our own communications and publications about our migration plans, and of certain relevant government publications.

In January 2024, we published an article on this website setting out our plan to migrate a portion of our technical infrastructure to the public cloud platform operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The announcement caused considerable commotion, disquiet and justifiable debate regarding the Netherlands’ digital autonomy. Since then, a great deal has been said and written about our plans, even including parliamentary questions, statements and motions. That ultimately led to constructive dialogue and further investigations. As a result, not only have our plans been refined and improved, but an important public debate has been started, about assuring the sovereignty of the Dutch digital infrastructure more generally.
We have therefore compiled an overview of our own communications and publications about our migration plans, and of certain relevant government publications. If you've got any questions about the matters covered by any of the publications, or you’d like anything added to the list, please mail communicatie@sidn.nl.
