I build and maintain ICT systems for SIDN, so that the Dutch internet can be reached by anybody, anywhere.
What you'll be doing
Being responsible for all .nl domains, SIDN needs a solid technical base. And that's what we have. Underpinning our operations is the sort of Linux platform you can really get your teeth into. Like a physical infrastructure, our ICT infrastructure has to be well maintained. We need top specialists to ensure that it stays fully functional and accessible. That's where you come in. We need a Senior Linux Engineer or Linux specialist. Whichever you see yourself as, we need you and your expertise to keep our systems constantly operational, and to upgrade and extend them as appropriate. Your work will involve virtualising and monitoring systems, and ensuring that .nl's global DNS infrastructure works properly at all times: activities that call for expertise, insight and commitment! Your professionalism and service-oriented attitude will be reflected in the way that you:
Write and add to Ansible playbooks
Work with VMware and OpenStack
Use various scripting languages to automate your work
Monitor the functionality of a range of processes and systems and respond to any observed anomalies
Share knowledge with colleagues
Work with Linux, OS and applications

At SIDN, you'll be working for a reliable, innovative employer. As a Senior Linux Engineer, you'll be up to speed with developments in your field. You'll share your insight with your team, explaining why the developments matter and how they influence your work. We expect you to have a proactive attitude: someone who tackles things without waiting to be asked. And you'll be an effective team player. You'll work with other team members to define and address priorities. As Senior Linux Engineer at SIDN, you'll be asked to perform a lot of different tasks. So it's important that you have a cool head and maintain an overview. Fortunately, you'll have the backing of a committed and supportive team. Your qualities include:
Higher vocational working and thinking ability
At least 5 years' experience working in a similar role
Knowledge of the DNS
Experience with Shell scripting and Python
Experience of configuration management tooling, e.g. Ansible and Puppet
SIDN, in full the Foundation for Internet Domain Registration in the Netherlands, is an independent organisation that manages the .nl domain. In 2017, we joined forces with Connectis to reinforce the market for digital identities as well.Connectis supplies software and ID tokens for secure access to public and private services. There's more to domain name registration and secure log-ins than you might expect. We therefore have a team of 150 people dedicated to ensuring that the Dutch internet is as secure and trustworthy as possible. Some are based in Arnhem, others in Rotterdam.
Take a look at the missions and visions of SIDN and Connectis for a fuller picture of who we are and what we stand for. At SIDN and Connectis, you'll see more jeans and tee-shirts than sharp suits. It's a setting where you can be yourself. And there's always something going on: family days, Christmas dinners, sports days, barbecues and even weekends away together. Join in or do your own thing; it's fine either way. Maybe we'll see you soon?Read more about SIDN

The team is collectively strong, with everyone willing to roll their sleeves up and get on with the job. At SIDN, we attach great importance to that kind of attitude, as reflected in our agile operational culture. Along with your team, you'll tackle assignments using the KanBan method.
