How you'd explain your job at a party

I'm helping to build a new cybersecurity product for the SME sector

What you'll be doing

Cybersecurity is now more important than ever. Hacked accounts, stolen customer data, crashed payment systems. Hackers never rest. Fortunately, neither do we. Because we want to make the internet safer for everyone, our ambition is to grow our activities in the field of on-line security. We have therefore developed a new proposition for the SME sector. Many enterprises recognise that doing business in the modern world involves risks linked to website security, connections and devices. But how can they pinpoint those risks? And what can they do about them? For SMEs, answers are often hard to find. A proposition called CyberSterk has therefore been developed, which you'll be realising for SIDN and the Dutch Enterprise Foundation. CyberSterk will let enterprises see at a glance what cyber-risks they're exposed to, and how to address them. As a skilled Java developer, you have what it takes to translate the perfected proposition into a fully featured application. You'll work in an Agile setting, as part of the team responsible for developing the entire application. Within the team, your primary focus will be the back-end of the application, including server and database set-up. You'll be designing, programming and implementing. As well as connecting other applications that deliver data via APIs. So that Dutch SMEs are soon able to protect themselves easily and effectively. Your professionalism and customer focus will be reflected in the way that you:

  • contribute to development of a new application

  • improve the existing functionality of our primary business applications

  • take responsibility for the robustness and quality of the application, from concept to finished product

  • operate as a team player

  • see things from the customer's perspective, perform problem analyses and devise solution trajectories aligned with customer expectations

  • help to increase professionalism within the team

What we want

At Connectis and SIDN, you'll be working for reliable, innovative employers. That'll be reflected in all aspects of your role. As well as contributing to a secure and reliable .nl domain for all, you'll be helping to reinforce our position on the cybersecurity market. With your experience of back-end development, you'll understand exactly what's involved in building a successful application. You'll be part of an Agile team, whose members all support each other. So it's important that you have good communication skills! You'll also have:

  • higher vocational working and thinking ability

  • extensive experience of working with Java

  • knowledge and experience of working in an Agile setting

  • extensive knowledge and experience of: Java (EE), RESTful web services, relational databases, automated testing, development tooling (Maven, Git, Jenkins)

  • a proactive attitude

  • knowledge of the Atlassian stack (Jira, Bitbucket) (desirable, not essential)

About us

SIDN, in full the Foundation for Internet Domain Registration in the Netherlands, is an independent organisation that manages the .nl domain. In 2017, we joined forces with Connectis to reinforce the market for digital identities as well.Connectis supplies software and ID tokens for secure access to public and private services. There's more to domain name registration and secure log-ins than you might expect. We therefore have a team of 150 people dedicated to ensuring that the Dutch internet is as secure and trustworthy as possible. Some are based in Arnhem, others in Rotterdam.

Take a look at the missions and visions of SIDN and Connectis for a fuller picture of who we are and what we stand for. At SIDN and Connectis, you'll see more jeans and tee-shirts than sharp suits. It's a setting where you can be yourself. And there's always something going on: family days, Christmas dinners, sports days, barbecues and even weekends away together. Join in or do your own thing; it's fine either way. Maybe we'll see you soon?
