Where DNSSEC adoption is concerned, government bodies have performed very well in recent years, relative to Dutch national averages. Earlier this month, the number of signed .nl domain names passed the three million mark. That is 52 per cent of all 5.8 million names, one of the highest rates in the world.
When it comes to validation, however, the Netherlands is lagging behind. For example, the nation's two biggest access providers, KPN and Ziggo, don't currently provide their customers with a validation service.
For its survey, the Forum for Standardisation used the Internet.nl portal, where domain names can be checked to see whether they are using modern, secure internet standards.
Our site now also shows which registrars support DNSSEC.
