ECP Annual Congress
Visitors to the twentieth ECP Annual Congress will be discussing the building blocks of the digital society, from trends such as cloud computing, big data and blockchain to parameters such as digital skills, privacy and cybersecurity. The opportunities and challenges that digitisation brings in fields such as health care and education will also be up for debate. SIDN is once again supporting the congress.
The programme of the ECP Annual Congress opens and closes with plenary sessions. Between those bookends are twenty-eight subsessions devoted to a wide variety of topics, including presentations by SIDN Fund and SIDN Labs.
A strong internet for all 11:15 -12:00, room 7How can we make the Netherlands less vulnerable to cybercrime? How do we get digital skills embedded within the primary school curriculum? How can we tackle internet child pornography more efficiently and protect our children? For some of the answers, check out these inspiring projects supported by SIDN Fund: Internet and Cyber Security Health Check, which provides insight into current security vulnerabilities and solutions; FutureNL, dedicated to getting digital skills taught in school; and Process Automation for Internet Abuse Reporting Organisations, which is all about the efficient processing of reports about fake webshops, phishing and child pornography.
Public-private collaboration for a more secure internet 14:00 – 14:45, room 6The internet creates opportunities for economic growth, innovation and social development. However, it also throws up dilemmas, vulnerabilities and problems at the interface between security and privacy. When that happens, the natural response is often to say that the government needs to intervene. However, the internet isn't easily regulated in the conventional way; a multistakeholder approach is needed. By reference to a number of specific cases, the congress will consider what form of self-regulation is most effective.
The internet of stupid things 15:00 – 15:45, room 7The Internet of Things (IoT) is opening up a world of exciting new possibilities. In many cases, however, little or no attention is paid to the security and privacy implications. So, during this session, we'll be considering how we can secure home networks more effectively in readiness for the IoT. That's the aim of SPIN (Security and Privacy for In-home Networks): a project in which SIDN Labs is investigating ways of giving people better insight and greater control over the devices connected to their home networks.
