SIDN had previously announced that the Board would be chaired by Eddy Schuyer and other members would include Henri de Jong (Mijndomein) and Willem van Waveren (SIDN Supervisory Board member). The appointments of Maas and Van Dalfzen complete the line-up of the SIDN Fund Board.
Trude Maas-De Brouwer
Trude Maas is an independent administrator and supervisor. Her specialities are talent development, education and innovation. She also represented the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA) as a member of parliament in the periods 1998 to 1999 and 2002 to 2007. While an MP, she chaired the Standing Committee for Science Policy and Higher Education and was responsible for the Economic Affairs portfolio. Between 1971 and 1998, Maas held various management posts and directorships at BSO/Origin and CITO. From 1999 to 2006, she was president of the Hay Group Vision Society, an organisation that she founded herself. Until 2013, Maas also chaired the Van Leer Group Foundation. Current positions include chairing the Advisory Board of the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
Berend van Dalfzen
Berend van Dalfzen has been appointed to the SIDN Fund Board on the nomination of the Registrars’ Association. Until 1 September, he was Commercial Director at Vevida Services BV and now holds a similar position at Realtime Register. Van Dalfzen also chairs the Marketing and Communications Committee of the Registrars’ Association. When studying for an executive MBA degree, he specialised in good causes marketing. Van Dalfzen has also been involved in setting up two funds with similarities to the SIDN Fund.
The SIDN Fund will provide financial support to projects that promote innovation, education, research, security and trust, application reach and constructive use of the internet in the Netherlands. The SIDN Fund seeks to contribute to the prosperity and welfare of the Netherlands by increasing the economic and social value of the internet. The Fund has a starting capital of five million euros, and SIDN plans to provide a structural income.
