The aim of the project is to set up an ElasticSearch-based database environment which will support extremely rapid searches of the large volumes of (historical) registration data held by SIDN. The environment in question must be suitable for research purposes. A user-friendly GUI is also to be developed, e.g. for:
- Rapid searching on domain name, registrant name, e-mail, etc
- Visualising updates to a domain name over time
- Highlighting other 'irregularities'
The project is expected to yield the following results:
- Environment based on ElasticSearch or a similar technology
- GUI and/or RESTful API for easy searching
- Initial import of registration data (or a subset)
- A study report
We are looking for a highly motivated undergraduate with a passion for internet technology, NOSQL database technology and the visualisation of complex relationships. You are energised by investigating exactly how mechanisms and systems work and you are able to devise and evaluate solutions. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with an enquiring mind, capable of developing proofs of concept.
If you are interested in this project, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org explaining why you think you are the right person to carry it out. Questions can be mailed to the same address.
